Praying for Bubba

Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
to whom His love commits me here,
over this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide...
Amen

UPDATE AS OF Febuary 2002

Greg came home Wed., Feb. 20th. Less then 24 hours at being at home, we had to call 911.
Thursday night (Feb., 21st) Greg had a seizure. First seizure he's had in six (6) years. Scared us pretty bad. He had what the doctors call "grand mal" seizure. He was jerking all over, having a hard time breathing turned blue on us and would not respond. Called 911 and met the ambulance about 7 miles down the road from where we live. My son almost died in my arms and I thank God that he didn't. We really thought we had lost him. Took the EMT's and his dad 15 minutes working on him before they got him stabled. Greg was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he stayed over night. Before Greg was release from the hospital his physician, Dr. Patel ordered Greg some oxygen and gave us diastat to use on him incase he has another seizure at home.

Tuesday, Feb., 26th Greg had another seizure. He was fine cooing and smiling, and then he vomited and went limp for a few seconds and then started seizuring. This seizure seemed to be more intense. We had the oxygen on him, tried the diastat (which 5mg wasn’t a big enough dose for him) called 911. Took the ambulance 20 minutes to get to Greg. He was still seizuring when they got to him; 7cc’s of Valium was given to him and once again he was transported to the hospital.

UPDATE AS OF March 2002

Wed., March 27th, They ran several test on Greg; Blood work, X-rays and a CT scan of his lungs. Several doctors were called. Dr. Y also came in to 'tap' Greg's shunt... stuck a needle in his head about eight(8) times but he could not get any fluids. (This was done while Greg was awake and it was very hard to see him go through all of this and very hard for me to hold myself back from grabing that doctor by the collar) An hour later this Dr. came back to tap his shunt again, this time on the side of his head. Once again he could not get any fluids.

Thursady, March 28th, Upper GI was done on Greg. They also ordered Greg a special mattress for his bed. (getting a bed soar)

Friday, March 29th, Greg was put to sleep an Dr. Howell stuck a needle in his chest to get some fluids so that they could run some test on it.

Sat.,March 30th, Greg looks better but still has allot of congestion. Still waiting on test results.

Monday, April 1, several specialist have been called in for Greg over these last several days. He's looking better and trying to talk up a storm, smiling and laughing. He's not jerking his shoulder anymore so that's a good sign as well.

UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 2002

Greg had a seizer, called 911. My husband was out of town so I called my mother-in-law. I went with Bubba in the amblance and she met us at the hospital. They had to give Greg oxygen. He stayed several hours at the hospital then we were able to bring him home.

UPDATE AS OF DECEMBER 2002

Greg had a seizer, a bad seizer. Called 911. I gave him 20mg of diastat and oxygen, but that just wasn't enough. His seizer this time lasted a long time. It took the amblance 20 minutes to get to Greg and he was still seizering when they got to him. They gave him 20mg of Valium (the most he has ever had at one time) then had to give him more valium. I asked the EMT to give him more oxygen because he was having such a hard time breathing. Greg stayed in the hospital overnight.

UPDATE AS OF Feburay 20, 2003

Greg had hip surgery in Atlanta, GA. The plate, bolts and screws were taken out of Greg's hip. He will be in a body cast for a few weeks. Greg hasn't had a seizer in almost 3 months!

Greg can sit in his wheelchair with NO PAIN now! He's doing great.

The Guardian

There are those who believe,
So the story is told,
That at birth you receive
Your own Angel to hold.
You come into this world
On a wing and a prayer,
And through your lifetime
She will always be there.
A guardian Angel
Who will guide what you do,
Her pure essence is love
Sent to watch over you.

I Believe in Angels,
and I Know One Is
Watching Over You

I know there's an angel
always by your side.

Whether male or female,
it's there to be your guide.

It rejoices with each sunrise,
the beginning of each day,
knowing that you're safe, indeed,
for in God's hands you stay.

And when the evening comes
and the darkness makes its cover,
your angel settles
in the coming night
and above your head it hovers.

Yes, I believe in angels --
you have your very own,
because you are God's special child
and you'll never be alone.
